The following was published by the ESD 112 on their website. We have modified their original post to focus on students from the Ridgefield School District.
On March 22, ESD 112 rolled out the virtual red carpet for the 2023 Southwest Washington Regional High School Art Show. Hosted on YouTube, ESD 112 Superintendent Tim Merlino and Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction Superintendent Chris Reykdal welcomed guests to this year’s virtual event. Viewers had a chance to see award-winning pieces in addition to hearing from participating artists.
“Student participants demonstrated exceptional skill, originality, and emotion in their work,” said Tim Merlino, superintendent of ESD 112. “The Regional High School Art Show is a testament to the fact that art and creative expression are instrumental in the education and development of young people.”
\r\nWinners of the Regional Awards will compete against entries from around Washington State in the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) Art Show, celebrating 50 years of the annual student art competition, taking place on May 30 at Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle.
\r\nIn addition to the recognition from ESD 112, all student artists who were recognized with an award in this year’s Art Show also received scholarships from the Department of Art + Design at Central Washington University, and/or Pacific Northwest College of Art.
