Dr. Nathan McCann

The Ridgefield School District Board of Directors and Superintendent Dr. Nathan McCann have determined that, through the fault of neither party, Dr. McCann’s significant skill, knowledge, and experience are not the best match for the present needs of the district. The board and Dr. McCann have agreed to separate, and as part of that agreement, the Board has accepted Dr. McCann’s resignation from his position as superintendent effective on August 15, 2023.

The board thanks Dr. McCann for his more than nine years of service to the Ridgefield community–particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic–and wishes him future success.  In the coming weeks and months, the Board will identify and select a qualified consulting firm to lead the search for a new superintendent. The board will rely on the expertise of the consulting firm to determine the appropriate timeline for the search and hiring process. In the meantime, Assistant Superintendent Chris Griffith will assume the role of Interim Superintendent until a permanent replacement is hired.

Dr. McCann shared the following statement. “My heart is full of gratitude for the nearly decade-long opportunity to work with so many dedicated and talented team members. I wish to thank all board members, past and present, for their collaboration and commitment to our schools. Ridgefield is truly a special community and I’m excited to see what lies ahead for our schools. Go Spuds!”
