PHILOSOPHY

Once you’ve wrestled, everything else in life is easy.” ~ Dan Gable

Our philosophy focuses on developing total student-athletes through the sport of wrestling.  This includes teaching time management to meet responsibilities in school, practice, competition, home and our community.  We believe in an athlete-centered coaching approach—one that requires a constant effort to learn about each athlete’s particular learning styles and development needs.  The team always comes first. The best way for teaching and reinforcing this aspect of philosophy is to acknowledge that every student-athlete is an important part of the team.  The team’s success is dependent on creating a positive working relationship with each student-athlete. Empathy and genuine care for each player, as both an athlete and a person, are core components.  We coaches are teachers and emphasize technical skill development while creating optimal learning environments in which student-athletes feel confident and comfortable with risking failure.
